HAMBLEAUX TAPESTRY
The regatta would like to celebrate the medieval heritage of the River Hamble, as well as the return of the famous Bayeux Tapestry to England in July 2026. To mark this special occasion, we invite you to design and colour a decorative panel inspired by the style of the Bayeux Tapestry, showing an aspect of medieval life connected to the river.
Taking part
You can download a panel template from the website (below), or choose from ready‑made panels that can be coloured in. You may also create your own design if you prefer. Your picture could include fishermen at work, monks at the priory, shipbuilding along the riverbank, the Hamble ferry carrying people across the water, children playing in the village, or any other scene from medieval life that you can imagine. Be creative and enjoy bringing Hamble’s history to life!
Print the template on A4. Design and colour your panel, trying to use the style and colours of the Bayeux Tapestry. When you are pleased with your panel, put your name age and contact details (email preferably) on the back, roll it up and put it in the tube from a finished kitchen roll.
Post or deliver to: Hamble Valley Regatta, 24 Astral Gardens, Hamble, S031 4RY.
